lol...
I think the laptop drives are only up to 7,200 rpm.
my wifes laptop was very slow. found out it had a 4,200 rpm drive in it, so i replaced it with a 7,200 rpm drive and its pretty fast now, it actually boots up in half the time now.

I would love a 10,000 RPM drive, but they just don't have the capacity yet. I don't think I've seen one bigger than 74Gb except for SCSI.

Western Digital makes their 10,000 RPM raptor in a 150GB version. Still not huge, but hey, it's fast. http://www.westerndigital.com/en/pro...89&Language=en | | | |

there is a 150 gig 10,000 drive, but its about $240 or something.
you can look here at new egg at all the 10,000 rom internal HD's http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...e=10%2c000+RPM
there are some 15,000 rpm scsi drives, but those things are way to expensive for personal use
the 74 gig is perfect for a system drive. I have seperate SATA drives for all my photos and data

Kinda cool. One of the WD drives actually comes with a clear top so you can watch the drive in action. As if you'd want to do that.

I use one of the 74GB Raptors for my OS/Apps drive and it's plenty big enough since all data is on another drive. Not the quietest drives, but they are indeed fast.

I bought 2 150GB Raptors from Dell when they had them for $140 (most likely a price mistake). But I got both of them the very next day. Some of my friends are still mad that I did not tell them about this deal. Yes they are fast, love them...
