NYIP - Assignment Photos - 04-23-2007, 03:29 PM

Here is my thread for the NYIP course. I just mailed in my first 3 photos and will now be waiting for the critique. Here are my first three shots. If you want to give me an early critique go for it. I have already posted two of these but am going to keep them all together in this thread.

I really like number 3. You have good use of hyperfocal and rule of thirds. How many shots did it take on number 1 to get a good one? Selective focus - I think your instructor will say something about the photog arm being a distraction, and how they are looking for a blurred background. I personally think that if the arm was a little more oof than it would not be a distracting to the model (main focus).

BTW - I am on unit 3. I have yet to read it though. I have not even listened to my critique of unit 2 (I have had it for about 2 weeks now), I thought I would wait and listen right before I start shooting unit3.

P.S. What part of metroplex? Maybe we could get together and discuss NYIP

Yeah, we should get together somtime, just let me know, maybe we can get a group and go out shooting. For the Selective Focus shot, I also think they will have some stuff to say here beacuse I did not exactly follow what they said to do, but the photo still does show selective focus, just in a backwards way :O) I even wrote that on the page. For the jumping shot of my puppy, I shot about 15 pics on my D2H to get that one. Not too bad.

Professional Photographers Course - 04-24-2007, 11:23 AM

I like the course so far, I have been shooting for about 4 to 5 years now and this is bringing some new info to light for me. I just sent my first photos so will be waiting to get the critiques. I did not exactly follow the directions on the selective focus one but I told them that also. Will see how it goes.

I see you are just up the road from me. Maybe if one us can think of something we should get together and shoot. John(jchooper12) is this area close to you?

Oh, yea!! I am real close! I am just on the edge of Fairview and McKinney. Next to the Hospital. I am in Allen a lot. My Daughters live there as well as my Parents.

I wouldn't mind getting with you to do some assignments.

I will PM you with my number.

Wylie is just south of Allen, probably around 5 to 10 miles from Wylie so we are really close together. Cool that other people in the area are taking the NYIP course. Maybe we can get together this weekend and shoot. Just let me know!!!

Kevin/John,
Do either of you have the DVD from unit 3? I have misplaced mine. I would like to make a copy of it if you don't mind.

I am also taking the Professional Photographers Course. The photos in the material are outdated, but the techniques are still valid. The short courses have been rewritten (as far as I have heard)and are a little more up to date. The digital course used to be "basically a photoshop course". This forum has some good information about the courses:

Hey guys, I live in Plano and am taking the class as well. Mind if I join too? I need to find some folks to go shooting with...tired of going by myself.
