Angry Robbed at La Madeliene on 290 and 1960 - 04-24-2007, 04:47 PM

Hey ya guys just wanted to let you guys know about something that happened to me today at La Madeline at 1960 & 290 .

I was eating lunch with a friend around 12:15 and I received a call from Wolf Camera that someone was trying to buy a $3000 camera with my AMEX card, thank the Lord I am friends with the Manager of Wolf Camera and he knew it wasn't on the up and up, and immediately called me on my cell phone to let me know what was happening. The couple that had my card figured out he knew and then left Wolf before the police could get there. They proceeded to go on a shopping spree and went to Target, Kohls, Walgreens and then bought some gas before we got all the card canceled and charged alot of money fromour bank accounts.

This couple stole my wallet out of my purse while I was sitting there eating at La Madeline, I never left my seat. I was still in the resturant when Wolf camera called me. I also wanted you guys to know how the event was handled by the manager of La Madeline. I went over to her right away and told her what had happened and she calmy without asking any question or any concern said, I will call the police, 45 minutes went by I walked back to her and asked how long it had been since she called, she informed me that she "really couldnt get involved in this because it wasnt her responsibilty to call cause it wasnt her money" Then she proceeded to walk away and that was that.

We have canceled all our cards and hope we will not have anymore damage done that has already been done.

I am just appalled that someone stole my wallet right out from under my nose and at the managers lack of concern that someone had just been robbed in her store and did nothing to help. She didn't even ask my name or asked if we were okay. I will not be going to this resturant again. I hold customer service as a very high priority.

So when you go to La Madeline be cautious where you hang your purse while you eat.

After I informed the manager of the problem I looked around the restaurant and every woman in that restaurant had there purse in the same exact place where mine was when it was stolen.

It is just a miracle the first place these people went was a camera store I frequent, with outstanding customer service and regard for their customers. I feel so blessed that they were lead to go to this store first. God is great.

Thanks all and God Bless Kimberley Milburn

Please pass this on to your friends as I dont want this horrible event to happen to anyone else!

Oh if you ever need anything from Wolf camera Josh is your man!!!

Yikes! Nice to know someone was watching out for you at Wolf. What on Earth were they trying to buy for $3K?

Not to lessen the impact this has had on you, but you were the victim of "theft." "Robbery" means the use of force or threat of force was used to take your card.

Sorry to hear that. Kinda scary because that's just down the street from me. I'm assuming the CC companies were able to remove the charges?

i would have stood up and let everyone know what happened, and let them know how the management felt about it. that is just ridiculous that they would handle it like that. once you get everything back to normal, i would write a letter to the la madeline headquarters.

now you can tell your spouse that its a good thing you spent so much money at the camera shop, since they knew to call you. hope everything gets back to normal fast.

If that La Madeline is a chain operation, I believe I would inform the home office of that store managers lack of concern. Especially after she said she would call the police and then not doing so, and not telling you that she changed her mind about calling. This is a very unprofessional attitude for a store manager. It was no 'skin off of her teeth' not to honor your request.

sorry to hear about the theft, but glad also that you got good customer service at Wolf (was this the one across from the Walgreens?)
I would have made a public statement as well, if nothing else, you may not have been the only victim
i would also call a district office and let them know of the manager's "concern"

Make sure you file a police report as well, that should help you get access to the vendor information, although since your ID/CC was involved, they should tell you what you need. hopefully, their video cameras were working and they have the crooks on tape.

I know Target has them on tape bu they wont share any information with me. Kohl's department store was so awesome we contacted their the security officer, with in 30 minutes they had all our information we needed and sent us the file of the people using my cards and pictures of them and told exactly whay they bought! They did a great job even called us to ask if there was anything else they could do for us. Thats customer service......

Wow that totally whomps. But unfortunately that is how it happens. They get your card and buy EVERYTHING that isn't nailed down in the next hour or two before you can cancel them. Scumbacgs.

As for La Madeline I don't eat at that place b/c they are a bunch of snobby ass monkeys. "Oh we sell French semi-fast food. We are sooooo much better than the rest of the population." Pft. Whatever. That is why I eat at Denny's where everyone is po' and not worth robbing.

What would have been nice is if someone at Wolf remembered to snap a picture of the couple.

Things to do: Check your credit report.
Put a fraud alert on all three credit agencies
Notify your bank ASAP.
Keep calling the police, and make contact with your assigned detective.
