Heather and I were discussing the idea tonight of holding a big portfolio building event at her studio in Brownwood. This would be a two day event (Saturday and Sunday), featuring four or more models with several shoots scheduled at the studio and at least one out at the lakefront near sunset on Saturday.
There would also be some class time dedicated to how to put together a portfolio (based on what purpose it will serve for you), how to critique your own work (to decide what does and doesn't make the book), and more... there will also be talk of lighting and basic posing, although this workshop would not be dedicated to that topic.
The price for this two day event would be $250 for which you'd get all of the model shoots, the class time, and lunch on both days. We will have dutch treat GTGs for dinner on Saturday and breakfast on Sunday. Hotel accommodations can be made, with discounts possibly available at the Brownwood Hampton Inn.
We would need at *least* 7 people to make this happen, and we would open it up to 15 photographers. If we get that many, we would have at least two models/shoots going at any given time, so you will have ample opportunity to work with a model.
So.. is there enough interest to make this happen? We would be doing this sometime in August, so you would have time to plan out a trip... perhaps even a mini-family get away before school starts up again.

Brownwood is only about 2 1/2 hours west of Ft. Worth, which if you take Hwy 377, there are lots of pic opportunities along the way. We would start late enough on Saturday that you wouldnt have to get up at stoopid oclock to get here :)

We are thinking about 4 or so models. Not sure if we will have 2 and 2 or do all 4 both days.

Other than the sheer size and serious coolness of her studio? Nah.
Heather's studio is a 4000 sqft warehouse, mostly unfinished with wood floors and posts all throughout.. add to that the outdoor locations right there including a seldom used railroad siding.... and well, we have some cool places to shoot all around.

Wow, that place kicks ass. Count me in. Will you be bringing your lighting equipment or do we need to bring our own?
