Whats up with Downtown Austin - 05-15-2007, 11:12 PM

Came to visit Austin today Tuesday May 15th...decided to take a stroll downtown but didn't bring my 5D with me. Awesome bulidings I love old late 1800's buildings and downtown Austin has plenty. But the people around freaked me out....more pan handlers than I could count....strange, dirty smelly... people following me and my friend. I saw your everyday people (the normal people) but way too many freaks made me feel uncomfortable to bring my gear and photograph the beautiful bulidings.....

Welcome to Austin!

Although I have to say, I've been downtown many times and not had any problems. Shooting in small groups is nice, and I keep to fairly major streets.

Austin is the Liberal Mecca of Texas, so all the vagrants are there for their free handouts!

I guess I don't realize or notice the number of vagrants. Kinda like ambient noise to me. I grew up in NYC and they were just a way of life. Austin, has a much smaller and to be honest tamer vagrant population.

The only ones that annoy me are the pan handlers at the intersections. If they have the initiative to put themselves in front of everyone pleading for money and are smart enough to spell everything correctly...go find a job.

How you doin'?

Well, of course, that would explain everything. Must be that liberal mindset that causes all of this.

What a joke.

My suggestion would be to put your camera up and go home.

Have you ever thought about how you might look to them?

Daniel, the "easy guys" part should have been issued at the very beginning of this bull**** thread, not now.

It is amazing how when someone disagrees with these Neandertahals on this board- that is when warnings are issued, etc.....

How about enforcing this crap from the very beginning.

Instead, you participate in it.

Clearly this is too hot of a political/socioeconomic topic for a civil discussion. Thread closed.

Feel free to send me a PM if you would like further clarification of the rules.

Rick, Daniel's participation in this thread was completely in line with the topic... no harm. when things went a little out of whack he issued a warning to get things back on track which is protocol. Then you come in and jump on him as if he participated in the rule violations himself when that was not the case...

I stand by his warning and Scott's decision to close this thread...

You have often times ignored our rules and made posts full well knowing that they will not be tolerated. I have sent you enough warnings over the course of your stay here on TPF and the "complaint" thread you created in Open Talk this evening was 100% uncalled for... That was crossing the line....

I have issued you your fair share of warnings... I am now issuing a 14 day account suspension.
