So 3 days ago I was bit by something, I thought nothing of it.. 2 days ago my leg somewhat started to hurt, I thought it might had been something is simple and annoying as a in grown hair on my leg... nope wasn't that.. so i didn't bother it..
Yesterday my right leg started to feel weak while i was at work and hurt twice as much and the spot got bigger and more swelled up. So I went to the ER after work. I was there for almost 7 hours.
Turns out I was bit by a spider, they drained what they could without hurting my leg and causing me to lose blood since my leg already felt numb, then gave me 2 perscriptions, one that starts with a B that i can't pronounce properly and vikodin. Then wrote me a doctors note telling me to stay home today and keep a heating pad on my leg.

If it was a Brown Recluse bite, which the ER very seldom recognize, you should take immediate action now. They do have a specific antidote for those kinda bites now.

Hopefuly it wasnt a brown recluse, keep a close eye on it. Years ago I squashed a tiny little spider with my finger . Not thinking ,a few minutes later I rubbed my eye, within minutes the right side of my face was swollen enough to close that eye. Try explaining in the ER that you had spider guts in your eye without people snickering at you. Seems like they just washed mine out and gave me something for the swelling. Spiders are potent little boogers. I don't like em either.
The ER's around here are sure slow. Enough to make you sick. Bob

yeah, I once had a spider(wasn't sure what species) hanging over my head when I woke up from a night of sleep. How is that for a wake up call.

Damn man. I hope that clears up ok. We have all sorts of really big spiders around my house (as well as some Black Widows and such), and it sucks. Plus, we have snakes and scorpions. Gar! My son came in one day and said he went to get some grapes and saw a spider. I looked and found this... I'm SO glad he has a good eye!
And there were a few of these on the side of our house. Thats a cricket he's killing...

Ugh. I feel your pain.
I hate spiders with a passion.
I had a brown recluse bite in the id-80s on my leg while in the military. Took a chunk out and was painful (and smelly).
Then in the Early 90s I had a swarm of baby spiders just out of sacs cover my arm. The liquid they had on them caused my arm to swell real bad - and it felt like poison ivy, a wire scrub brush, and gasoline.
So I hate them. If I see them in my house - they are dead.
But for some reason the last 3 years I've been fascinated by the golden orb weavers that are due to come out any week now, and have been photographing them.

They don't taste very good when you bite into one either.
A long time ago I had one apparently drop from the range hood into a pot of soup my wife was warming on the stove. I took a bite and felt the legs with my tongue. I couldn't eat soup for a very long time. It was one of those crabby looking spiders. Yuck!!!

A few years back I had a run in with a wolf spider in my bathroom. If you have ever seen one of these you they are pretty impressive in size.
Any how, when I worked up the nerve and stomped on this thing, the worst case scenario happened>>> hundreds of little spiders went barreling up my leg, yes UP MY LEG. *panic attack* I had no idea they carried babies on their back!! I could not get in the shower fast enough!
Let's just say now i trap them and release them far from my front door.

We have HUGE wolf spiders by my house, and a lot of times they have hundreds of babies on their backs. You can't tell till you kill/step on them. It's a bit scary the first time you do it and the babies scatter... Ugh!

I don't normaly carry my gasoline and matches at all times. Plus that is not a solution when they are running up your leg. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
