... On the Way to Stupidville

So let me get this straight:
  1. The guy didn't know he was committing a crime.
  2. The owner didn't know he was committing a crime.
  3. The boob of a police chief didn't know he was committing a crime.
  4. The owner didn't care.
  5. The guy didn't care.
  6. The cop had nothing better to do, like oh fight violent crime, so he went home dug up a book on retarded and little known laws and then issued a warrant after the fact.
There ought to be a little know and retarded law that allows the people of this town to punish the cop for wasting tax payer dollars. This is exactly the kind of idiocy our "nothing to do but stick my nose in other people's business" society is cultivating.

Why not .... oh I don't know go stop a wife beater? Why? Well obviously this police chief was spending all his days down at the coffee shop around the same time. So much so that he not only noticed the same car. Not only noticed the driver parked but ::gasp:: did not go in. But he saw this enough that he "had a feeling a law was being broken".

Good god almighty. With that kind of probable cause why didn't they just execute the fellow on the spot.

And how does this little morality tale end?
Quote:
Milanowski, who eventually swore out a warrant for Peterson, doesn't believe Milanowski knew he was breaking the law. "In my opinion, probably not. Most people probably don't."
Gee since his dumb ass had to waste his time to go look it up what could possibly make him think that normal people wouldn't know ALL about it?

Pft. Whatever.

Prophet out.

I blame the legislator MORE than the policemen.

The owner of the access point is just a guilty as the guy in the car for running a hot spot without any of the AP's basic security set up. True, it's easily broken, but at least if the guy had to break thru the security settings in the AP, the cop would have a better reason to charge him with piggybacking on the store's network.

locks keep honest people honest.

I don't agree that the owner is guilty of anything. Purchasers of access points are not required to engage the security features. It kind of defeats the purpose of having open WiFi to attract customers. On the otherhand, the owner could have established a firewall that blocks unapproved content like pornography. I use one on my kids computers that limits where on the internet they can roam.

As for the and prosecutors in Sparta Mighigan, it must have been a lull in their normal crime wave. What I don't understand is that if the owner that owns the free WiFi does not care, why should the law? Because they are not thinking about the best use of their resources. Houston has the same problem.

Houston has spent $millions enacting and defending the ordinance designed to put the strip clubs out of business. You would think that those same $millions would be better spent on more serious crimes like, drugs? murder? street gangs? smuggling? rape? It is not like strip clubs pose a more dangerous threat than these other threats.

And if Houston really wants to spend the money well, how about improving the education system? I mean, whats wrong with teaching the kids to be smarter?

I just hate to see tax dollars being wasted!
