'Inside job' suspected in McKinney High theft

By SHELLY SLATER / WFAA-TV

"I cried," said Lori Oglesbee, a journalism teacher. "I could cry again right now. It's $30,000 of equipment. That's more than I made teaching my first year."

From laptops to Canon cameras, it's all gone.

Hopefully they have the serial numbers and makes /models.. I'd keep an eye on Ebay and the other auction sites as well as the local papers....

Using a quote of a subject being interviewed, in this case the journalism teacher, is actually a recommended reporting practice. For it isn't the media exaggerating the story but the teacher expressing the value of the equipment stolen in their own words.

The news media does add pointless info all the time and it drives me nuts, but what did THEY add here? It was the journalism teacher who added the info that, as Frank said, places a more personal value on it than just saying $30,000.

I hope they find the equipment. I'm not sure who would want to steal the Canon equipment though!! lol

I still think it's pointless as her personal issues have nothing to do with the stuff being stolen, unless she is giving a hint that she stole it because she is broke -lol.

You know what I hate the most about the news is when they say something like "deadly virus kills hundreds.... more at 11".
