Since this is an Appeals Court Ruling it has a lot of pull, specifically note that since some of the images were filed with the Copyright office the photographer has more rights and avenues that he can persue in retributions.
So I guess if you have a corporate buyer for an image or group of images it is best to file them (you can file them up to I believe 30 days after initial publication).
Also note that he is trying to get product returned to him, 396 lost slides, so maybe worth getting dupes made of important shots if shot on film?
