This must be the night of morons! This evening, I was happily sitting at my desk, filling out checks to pay my bills! (Yes, happily, cuz I have the money to do it this month :) and at 10:25 my phone rings. I answer with a chipper hello! And the guy on the line says,
Guy: Is this Heather?
Me: Why yes it is! Who is this?
Guy: You dont recognize my voice?
Me: Well, since you know my name, I prolly know you, just can't place the voice at the moment, hehe.
Guy: I'm hurt, you should remember me?
Me: Well tell me who you are and I will.
Guy: Im your secret Admirer!
Me: I have pleanty of those, which one are you?
Guy: Does your husband know this?
Me: Ya, he thinks its cute.
At this point, Im thinking its someone from TPF being silly. I was thinking maybe it was Carl and Jordan in Houston being goofy, or Brad putting up one of his kids friends to do it, but still not placing the voice, I go on.
Guy: So, what are you doing tonight?
Me: Paying my bills. What are you doing?
Guy: Admiring you from afar, hehe.
Me: Oh well thats very nice.
At this point, Im getting a bit hacked off, but still going along, cuz Im wondering who this is and how long there gonna go before they tell me.
Me: So, how do I know you?
Guy: Im a neighbor.
Me: Oh really.
By this time Jeff is in the room with me, wondering who Im talking too.
Guy: Ya, I see you everyday.
Me: You do? Where do you see me.
Guy: In your back yard, and Ive seen your hairy P****.
Me: Listen, I dont let anyone talk to me like that, so if your a friend of mine playing a prank, you better tell me who you are right now! (However, none of my friends would say something like that to me)
Guy: I like what I saw, and I wanna see it again!
Apparently I turn white and a t this point Jeff takes the phone out of my hands and hangs up. Now Im creeped out, Cuz this moron is telling me he sees me in my back yard! Im so hacked off I could SCREAM!!!!!! What on earth possesses people to do this, this a**hole didnt sound like a teenager! UGGGGGGGG!

There are some very sick people in this world who get their kicks in weird ways. Stay aware but it was probably a prank. Do you have caller I.D.?

Did u get the number? Caller Id? Call police make a report? Call phone company and make a report. I understand the creepiness, heck if it happened to me, I would be creeped out. But I would find out who it is. It is possible that it was a totally random prank call and that was the end of it.

If so turn the # over to the cops. If not have them do the legwork. Don't let something like this slide.

I know in this day and age, we should have caller id, but we have an answering machine instead on the house phone. We had a few prank calls at the hotel and the first one I got there, I did call the cops. They said they really wouldnt do anything but take a report until it happened again. So I didnt bother this time. Im sure it was just random, but I was SO hacked off!

I just tried the phone company and what do you know, there closed. LOL That was the creepy part, that he knew my name, and why I thought maybe it was a goofy TPFer at first, its not uncommon for a few of my friends from here to call at 10:30pm LOL. Jeff and I were talking though, in a small town like this, my name is pretty easy to find out. Maybe its one of the unfortunate side effects of word of mouth advertising???

Definitely call the phone company and get the log of calls around that time.. reverse-lookup whoever this moron is and call him back.

I bet $20 you get his wife / girlfriend on the phone.....once you get that, use your imagination...

Creepy stuff! Be careful with this. They could be testing the waters for when someone is home. Our neighbor had a breakin couple of months ago. Someone definitely watched their trash and stuff as they had just bought a new TV and laptop and those were both taken. I'd actually noticed the boxes out on the curb on a trashday couple of days before the breakin. So, they may be creeping you out of the house for that kind of reason!!!

As for caller ID... We got it couple of years ago because we had couple of friends who loved to call us when they were on a break. Cool, but their breaks could last couple of hours and we had work to do!<g> Some of the calls we get, guess 5% or so, don't show the number - shows up as "Unknown Number". Most of them don't show the name, including our cellphones<g> So even if you have caller ID, doesn't mean you see the number or a name.

*69 on your phone will usually call them back unless they have that blocked.

File a Police report and that will allow them to pull the phone records from the phone company. You won't be able to get the records for "privacy" reasons even though it was your phone. I'd definitely file a report and have them identify who it was. Believe it or not, most of these morons are dumb enough to use their phone or one of their family members.

You certainly don't want it to escalate. Most PD's will handle it seriously, but if they don't appear to be, then press the issue. I have a lot of experience on the L.E. side of this, so PM me if you need some specific advice.
