Ok I know nobody can float in mid air, disapear, or let a steam roller run over them and live but this illusionist is amazing !
I've always been a fan of illusionist and have read just about anything I could find on them. I love watching them perform and try to figure out their secretes but about 99% of his illusions have got me stumped. I just got through watching Chris Angel levatate above the Lexar in Vegas while they had the spot light on. They said the lights equal 42 million candle power and run 800deg f. I'm sure they're not that hot where he was standing, about 20 ft above them, but it still had to be a couple of hundred deg's. There's a secrete but I can't figure it out.
Anyone else ever watch him on A&E or even better have you seen him in person? | | | | | Sponsored Links | Premium Members do not see Google advertisements. SIGN UP today and help support our community.

Well, I've seen his show, and as Penn (from Penn and Teller fame) says:
"Any magic trick you see on television is just ridiculous..."
Camera angles / editing, etc..
But he does do some interesting stuff.

I know he uses cables, balance, levers and other such stuff but some of the illusions look impossible. Whe he levatated above the Lexar I couldn't see anyway he could have used cables since there was nothing above him to hook a cable to. Only way I could figure he did it was with some type of rod hooked to the Lexar that raised him. Since he was so high nobody would have been able to see it but I still can't figure out for sure how he did it. No matter how he did it the illusion was still slick. I'm going to figure some way, or excuse, to convince my wife into swinging through Vegas to see his show when we fly out to California this summer. Maybe I can show him my dissapearing quarter trick and he'll use it in his show Yeah right !
His show might be ridiculous to some but I try to watch it as often as possible and have enjoyed each show.

I saw one the other day where he walked on water across a pool while people were swimming under him. That was very cool. I like to know how they do it but when I find out the secret it is always a disappointment to me because it either seems so simple I should have thought about it or, it just takes some of the magic out of it.
I think some of the best magic is slight of hand and really good card manipulation. If you get a chance go to http://www.penguinmagic.com and check out some of the trick videos.

I'll have to check that site out.
He performs a lot in Vegas but you need to check his show dates because he travels a lot for different shows around the country. I know he was doing shows exclusivly at the Luxar but I think his contract or whatever ran out and now he does shows at several place there, could be wrong about that though. We'll be in California for two weeks so surely I can catch him there within the two weeks.
There used to e another illusionist that was on T.V that did a lot of card and coin tricks but I can't remember his name. Anyone have any idea who I'm talking about?

my opinion:
mainly editing for tv. The only "big" items he does live in "shows" are not "big" It's only Television spots where he does these big "tricks".
I would have to say his look so amazing because they are mipossible and video editing does the work. or camera angles as mentioned.
I do know one of his tricks thoug. where he "levitates" not the big ones but the barely of the ground kind. he has a false shoe on one pant leg and the pant leg opens in front. he makes them stand behind him. he puts his legs together. arms outs. slips his leg onto a ledgein front of him and raises himself up. then lowers himself and puts his leg back in his pants. I saw it on some special. Don't know why he would release that information, but he was the one showing it.
still good to watch.

Yeah, definitely a lot of editing going on. In the water video, I don't see any kind of camera on his head, but they keep doing head-down shots of his feet. Also, you can see a difference in his steps when the head-down camera shows his feet...as if he were being held-up from above. My guess is that he's walking on a plexi-glass bridge. Even the in-water camera is careful not to show his feet from certain angles.
I remember when his show first came on tv, you could see little inconsistencies when the cameras would switch. It was obvious if you caught it that the timeline was not all in one take.

yeah, they did one recently were a guy comes out of the bathroom and he reaches through the guy unsuspecting. the "body" flops around lke a rag doll and looks like it ways about 75 pounds the way he is moving it around with his arm. and the guy is just looking down like whoa what is he doing. A person would freak. of course he was in on it and you could tell. his acting was HORRIBLE.

I heard he just signed a big 10 year deal in Vegas at the Alladin and going to be performing there like every day like Sigfred and Roy did...

Theres always a secrete to any illusions but I still like watching them. Chris Angel also dod a neat illusion where he made it look like he made a guitar string cut into his throat, no blood or anything though, and then he swallowed a ring. When he pulled the string out of his neck the ring was attached to the sting. Personally I think he's one of the best out there right now.
Blan was the one I was trying to think of.
