Darn, you know that you are too into photography, when things like this happen, and you look at the cameras. I saw many, many Canon (I could tell by the white lenses), and the rest were I guess Nikons. Its not fair, there were too many white lenses! :D I did see one guy with a HUGE white lens practically stick it through the window of the patrol car, it was so funny. Do PJ's always act like that?

Those guys aren't PJs

They....are the paparazzi.

Honestly...I even doubt that the "AP" photo of her crying in the car was shot by an AP staffer, more likely a "freelancer" which in terms of celeb. news in LA translates into paparazzi.

Sadly, I was genuinely entertained by the police chiefs press conference, I wished they would have just stayed on him, that guy was pissed.

How huge is "huge"? If the guy stuck it through the WINDOW of the patrol car, it couldn't have been a 70-200 or larger because of the MFD.

It was large, perhaps a 70-200mm IS, whatever L Canon lens. Like I said I paid more attention to the cameras and &lenses than the other stuff.

I think that we are supposed to make sure that we comment on the images not the worthless skank, hose bag, spoiled brat, wench that has to spend time in jail that is nicer than most peoples homes... homeless people should have it so bad...

Oh... no images to discuss... never mind

Speaking of, isn't there a filter that will let you shoot through the tinted windows of a car? Polarizer?

A photojournalist (Leslie, JPalmer, I did a bit of it) works for a newspaper or freelances, and shoots breaking news and assignments for a paper. We do the same thing as a reporter, just with pictures instead of words.

Paparazzi, on the other hand, make money taking pictures of celebrities.

Not the same thing at all...

American Heritage Dictionary:

paparazzi - A freelance photographer who doggedly pursues celebrities to take candid pictures for sale to magazines and newspapers.

photojournalism - Journalism in which a news story is presented primarily through photographs with supplementary written copy.

That's all I'm going to say on this topic...as I don't believe anything having to do with Paris Hilton should be mentioned in the same breath as photojournalism and I don't think this topic belongs on this section of the board.

Not gonna comment on Paris Hilton, but rather on the white lens comments.

When I bought my 70-200 VR I actually toyed with getting the grey variant as shown below. Probably would have if it had more than a 1 year warranty (it's an import). The standard black barrel gets kinda hot if you're shooting in the sun all day.
