In the day, I loved two Kodak offerings: Tri-X and Tech Pan. ASA 400 and ASA 25. I still remember a buddy who was a lab assistant at college running around the lab with one of my prints screaming: "Grain!" because I used 35mm Tri-X. He also told me that because I used Tri-X (developed in Microdol-X) I might as well use a felt tip marker to draw my photos. He used 4x5 Plus-X or Tri-X and had no grain (or so he said). Later in years as I re-discovered photography, I used Tech Pan or AgfaPan 25 in my Yashica LM and my 4x5. Still used a lot of Tri-X though because it had a "look" that I love.

Never really got into shooting in color for some reason. If I needed color, I shot Kodachrome, or Ektachrome 100.

I like Plus X 125 pushed to 200 and also Tri X @ 400. Haven't really tried any Ilford films, even though everyone always raves about them. For color it depends what I'm shooting. I enjoy Velvia 50 & 100, Kodachrome (although I hate dealing w/Walmart to get it developed through Dwaynes) and Kodak Elite chrome as a general purpose slide. Provia and Astia have their places too, I just don't use them as much. I don't really use print film but when I do it's either Fuji 160 S or Kodak 160 VC.

Before digital i loved the Kodak bw 400. Not a true b&w, but silky smooth.

I really liked Portra 160VC. But only shot one brick of it before my first DSLR came to the house. Have only shot one roll of film since then. And it was slide film.

I liked Tri-X also. We used it exclusively in college.

In 40 years, it it's Kodak, I may have used it.

Pretty much Tri-X now. In D76 1:1, or the Ilford ID-11 equivelent.

I have been using Ilford films, too. HP5+ is the Tri-X "equal", but I plan on doing a side-by-side test soon to see if there's any difference.

I've also started using PanF+. Also in D76/ID-11, but I tried some Rodinal and it is sharp! I'll experiment some more.

Color: Fuji.

KODACHROME 64, but wasn't fond of the K14 process.
