In a conversation with a relative the other day I decided to opine or maybe even blowviate about how it is that my wife and I take our photography very serious and that I find it funny when potential clients tell us that they love our work, but balk at our prices.
I explained that for any given wedding we both shoot and have an assistant. So for an 8 hour day we have a total of 24 man hours before we even begin to process any images. And on average it is taking me about 12 hours to build an album to the way I want it to look. And I didn't even factor in the expense of gear...
Then I went on to explain how we have spent hours in workshops, spent hundreds in books, thousands in software and gear, and that ultimately it is the photographer that makes the image not the stuff . . . yada yada yada . . .to insure our product is top shelf stuff.
The family member responds, " I have a Pentax that makes great pictures."
