Question bee disappearnace - anyone noticed? - 06-11-2007, 03:33 PM

my mom brought this to my attention the other day, and frankly - i did notice, but hadn't quite paid attention to it.

just do a google search on bee disappearance and you'll find it's actually quite serious when you think of all the ramifications of what bees do for us.

since reading this - i've noticed that my coral vine and mexican heather, which usually has soo many bees you can't even get close to them during the daytime...are completely empty.

interested to hear any more of your observations along these lines...

I either read or heard about this a while back, and it is a very odd thing. There are some beekeepers whose hives have gone almost completely empty.

I heard on the news it's because of all the cell phone signals obstructing the bees' signals. They can't find their way home :(

So far what they have is a theory that requires more research. It will be interesting to see what the outcome is.

Seeing as I'm deathly allergic to em .. GOOD!

Yes I do know the ramifications .. and I still would prefer not to get stung.

Thats funny! I have had to call a bee keeper 4 times in the last week. We reffer them when we find honeybees. They are protected so we can't kill them. My pest control customers are not happy when I tell them that. Seems to be quite a few in the mid-cities area recently. Maybe they are a little lost.

First the bees, then there will be a note saying "So long, and thanks for all the fish!"

Keep a look to the skies for a big yellow Vogon space ship, and I hope your towel is a good one!

I heard recently that the bees buzz at a specific frequency and that if the chemicals in the air around them are altered then their buzz-frequency changes. Someone has since tried to correlate their buzz-frequency response to a specific pesticide that is widely used to the disappearances.

I heard this in conversation and have not tried to find any sources. It's an intersting thought.
