Hard Drives...want speed not size - 06-12-2007, 04:31 PM

I've upgraded my processor & memory. To further increase the preformace of my PC I would like to find a 60-80GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0GB/s hard drive. The only thing that will be loaded on this drive is apps.

You guys have any recommendations? I'd prefer quality & speed over a cheap drive.

Thanks,
-Sonny

They also have a 74GB and a 36GB version too.... Very well worth it if you want speed....

Small capacity also means least density per platter, thus the transfer speed is slower compare to same drive that has more capacity/platter. On the other hands, it's has less chances of platter failure.

If you want a quality and speedy drive, Get a Raptor, 74Gb version is $135 After MIR at newegg.

Second...I run these for my OS and Apps drive, and they are as fast as you can get unless you want to shell out the big bucks for a SCSI 15000 RPM Hard Drive and special interface for it.
