Which Camera would you buy? - 06-12-2007, 10:18 PM

If you could afford it. Which camera would you buy?

The Canon 1Ds Mark II

The New Canon 1D Mark III

or the Canon 5D

I have thought about the 1Ds Mark II or the 1D Mark III.

The 1Ds has the full frame sensor, 16.7 mp

The 1D Mark III shoots at 10 Frames per sec, has 10 mp and from what I have read, does really really well on noise in the high ISO's.

And just to let everyone know, I already own the 1D mark II and just looking to add another body.

Although I just picked up a 5D, my next choice would be a Mark 3.

Digital still has a long way to go ...
The M3 has 14 bit color and sensor clean so got to pick this one.
But dont think 10FPS will help my golf swing.
For resolution and vibrance - got to go MF film.

I think the Mark III for me.
I would love 16 mp, but I really like the live preview on the Mark III, especially for delicate focusing issues. The dust shaker is a plus. The 10fps is cool, bit I'm an old fogey photographer who frames each photo and am not fond of high speed(waste) still photography. 16 mp though? If money were no object,,,, I don't know..

I think I'd wait for the 1DS MIII. I'm used to the FF now, with a 5D. There are appealing features to the MIII, but I keep hearing things like the battery doors fall off. Not the type of problems I expect when paying for a body at that price, so I'd either wait till they get a few early bugs worked out or wait for the redone 1Ds.

I've heard that it is the auxillary door that falls off. That's why it's an auxillary door,,, it is meant to fall off........that's called $4500 rationalization.
