I going on a business trip with the weekend stop over in Perth. Does anybody have any suggestions for a photo-op as I will have the weekend to do as I please? Any must sees or you gotta do this or that?

You suck. (kidding) You're going to my hometown.

trigg beach. fremantle for older buildings. there's lots ;)

kings park is a good one.

You gonna go see my friends for me?

edit : here's some links :

and if you want to spend a day (or half a day) head on over to Rottnest Island. Small island - you can cycle it in less than a day thats how small it is. Lots of cool things to do.

Thanks Pippin for the great links, they will come in handy.

Kings park, Fremantle and a skyline from across the Swan river is on my agenda.

I've watched the forcast and it's rain tonight, rain tomorrow (Sat), with some more rain on Sunday and take a guess what the forecast is for Mon. The driver said they were currently in a drought?????

The driver also talked about the drought on the trip from the airport. The rain is coming in five minute squalls with a thirty minute break inbetween each squall and it's been that way all day long. I had to buy a jacket as I didn't plan for these cold fronts. I've got a collection of jackets from all my travels so it will fit right in my closet. Rainbows are everywhere but I've not been at the right place at the right time to get one that interested me.

Last night we had dinner at Coco's which is across the river and looks back towards the skyline. Awesome view and awesome seafood. I don't have a travel tripod and it's bugging me. I also would kill for an macro lens as the flora is very unusual.

Fremantle is very pretty and the building were interesting. I didn't spend as long as I wanted as I was dodging the rain squalls. I did the round house, the maritime museum and watched these rain squalls come in from the ocean. It only took five minutes for a rain to cross from Gardens island to the museum. King's park tomorrow.

The people have been extremely fun to meet. I did have a taxi ride from hell and even then I couldn't get angry as he stopped the meter as soon as he realized a mistake was made by him. He didn't know where to go and took me to the wrong part of town, I had him call in to find the correct address.

Pippin, your hometown rules!

Yesterday was awesome, I got half a day with no rain and I was in Kings park. I met Mr Willie Wagtail in the park! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Willie_Wagtail I couldn't coax him out of the shade to get a good photo without flash. He was so close, I almost stepped on him as he darted underneath my foot and then wagged his tail at me.

Photos and TV do no justice to Aboriginal art. I've only been to a couple of art galleries but have seen some that I liked very much. I wish I could afford a dreamtime painting but I also wonder about the significance of the painting and how much the artist would receive.
