Rare Treasure - 06-14-2007, 11:45 PM

I thought some of you guys might find this interesting. A coworker of mine allowed me to shoot this rare find of his this week...wanted to test out my new macro lens. Anyway the story behind this is kinda cool as well. Here is the link to the story and larger pic that I typed up:

Ah ha! I thought I remembered seeing this on NikonCafe...

That's a pretty old coin. You did a good job capturing it.

Where your friend found a medallion, I would have found a buried gas line.

That is a great story and a great find. Let's see a picture of that wooden case.

-Dan...you are right I have posted this in most of my haunts. The medallion is around 550 years old.

-east_tx...thanks. I knew somebody was going to ask to see the box!! I asked Jim about it when I shot the pics and he told me he thought I had it to do some minor work on it...I told him noooo, so hopefully he can find it so I can take a picture of it! I told him maybe I should hold on to the medallion so he doesn't lose it for another 30 years. :)

That medallion was made to be and deserves to be worn!!!!!!! I volunteer and have a rope chain and open collared shirt that would do it proud. I would, however, have to borrow some chest hair from someone.

Here is another pic showing the scale:

I would wear it with pride and be the coolest , gangsta'd-out, non-rapping white guy......all the way to Sotheby's Auction House.
