I'm not defending Comcast, but I don't believe all the changes will be implemented day one but instead over time. Seems I heard the slight speed increase in internet service is due in the near future.

Did you guys JUST Get comcast in your area or something? We had them out here in Dallas, but they were bought out by AT&T In the DFW area. They are ok. The best thing about them to me, was they were cheaper then Directv. I also bundled TV with Internet. I wont get their phone service. it is TERRIBLE!

I'm not relishing sending out another mass e-mail to everyone letting them know of my new e-mail address. We're seriously looking at DishTV and ATT as alternate providers. Time Warner has provided less than acceptable service in our area (Fall Creek).

I received my Comcast pamphlet in the mail yesterday. I believe Comcast mentioned that internet speed would be increased from 4MB-5MB down to 6MB down. Comcast did not indicate any changes in the upload speed (which SUCK).

Yeah, this is going to be a huge PITA, not only for friends and family, but also all the forums and online shopping accounts that I use a RR email address for. Fortunately there's going to be a grace period of 6mos to a year for the email changover.

What especially sucks is that Comcast doesn't use region-specific email addresses, so you're competing with all Comcast customers for email addresses, and will probably have to settle for something like yourname321421@comcast.net. I don't think I'm even going to bother with a Comcast address because I don't want to have to go through this again for some future ISP change. I'll probably go with a standalone mail provider (anybody have recommendations that support pop3 interface? not interest in webmail), or use one of my parked domain names to set up my own email.

So far the new channel editions are LAME, especially for HD. Other Comcast markets get several HD channels that so far aren't announced for addition here (my wife is really wanting Food Network HD in particular).

Is the 6meg connection new with Comcast? We've had a 6meg connection w/Charter for nearly a year now.

we had 8 MEGS with Comcast, now with Time Warner we backed down to 6 megs because we were Getting 6 megs when we were paying for 8, and of corse they dont guarantee their speeds.

It's new in the Houston area which was formerly serviced by Time Warner Cable. They previously promised 5Mbps.

I'm sure it's going to take time for them to sort through the terrible cable plant in several parts of Houston and see how many HD channels the system can reliably support.
