hey all I am moving to Lewisville on july 14th so I was just wondering if there are any TFP people live up in that area and where some good places are to shoot with models and shoot wildlife/scenery when I need to get away.

thanks
Mike

Sorry Mike, but there are no photographers allowed in Lewisville. It is one of the first towns in the US to ban all sorts of photographers. I guess they felt that keeping the low lifes out of town had to be legislated, especially after that ugly tar and feather incident a couple of years ago.
If I were you, I'd sell all my equipment before actually getting to Lewisville.
By the way, I could use a couple of really cheap lenses.
Let me know please, before they get mangled in the riots, or before they get any feathers attached...

By the way, have a nice move.

Your Canon works with Nikon lenses, Tom?

Mike, go to the "Members List" under "Quick Links" and right click on the "Search" function to "Open Link In New Box." Then type in "Lewisville" (or any other city) in "location;" that search will yield something like this:

Mike,

Get a canoe and check out the Trinity River. There are nutria, beaver, all sorts of water birds, snakes and frogs all up and down the river corridor between Sandy Lake Dr. and Lake Lewisville. I used to office just south of Coppell. and paddled it often after work.

Lake Lewisville had quite a few waterbirds around it when large mudflats were exposed by the drought last winter. However, I haven't paddled it since we got rain. There is also a nature center on the lake. I've heard good things about it but I've never visited. I think it is called the Lewisville Environmental Learning Center or something like that.

Also, Rockledge park is not too far away on Lake Grapevine. It has a couple of miles of trails but lots of mountain bikers.

Las Colinas has many good urban-type locales to shoot models. Also, it features the Thai Chili, Jinbeh, and Mayuri - three good restaurants on Las Colinas Blvd.

Sorry we are losing you from this part of the world. Good luck with your move.
