So I got the new 30d with the 28-135 IS lens last week from the b/f as an early b-day present. I've had a blast playing around with it so far. But (as you all know..) I need more 'stuff'...

So I was out dreaming on the B&H site the other night and just made up a 'wish-list' of lenses and accessories that I would like to have. Figured that it would just be a good tool for me to see all of it and prioritize what I'd buy when I got more money.

Then I saw the little "mail this wish list to a friend"... hmmmm My family always complains that they never know what to get me on b-days and christmas. So I sent it off to Mom, Sis, and Dad thinking that none of them will really actually buy anything from it.

Fast forward to today.....

My son comes bounding up the stairs and say -Mom, you got a box. hmmmm - who's it from? I look at the shipping label and the from says brooklyn navy yard. what?! hmmm - lets open it.

Open it up and grab the packing slip and my Mommy must have seen the emailed list and went shopping!!!!!

Now I have a new bag for the toy, the canon 50mm 1.8 lens, and a uv filter for the 28-135 lens!!!!!

Called her and profusely thanked her and told her that her timing was just absolutely perfect!!!! A friend from Austin called me today to let me know his band is playing tonight here in SA. And I had already thought it would be a great time to try out the new camera - but knew that the 50mm lens would be perfect.. but would see what the kit lens would do in the low light.

and BAM!!! I get the 50mm to my door.

My Mom ROCKS!!!!!!!
