So you're going to East Texas, eh?

What part of Maryland? I'll be going to Jackson, SC and Ft. Meade, MD pretty soon.

going to Greenville, SC first (wife's hometown), then to Cary, NC (my parents just retired to Cary from Maryland), then to Kelly, NC (outside of Wilmington - my hometown), then to Mitchellville/Greenbelt, MD (my inlaws are in Mitchellville and my brother is still in Greenbelt)...and a bunch of roadtrip photo-op stops in between

With all that driving and visiting, I hope you get plenty of time for pictures. Perhaps a photo essay of gas prices?

If it were me, I'd mix NoDoze and Prozac. :)

One of the things that I noticed about Maryland and the other eastern states that I've been in over the last couple of years is the lack of places to pull over. There's lots of photo ops but they can be risky to take advantage of

That said, I would be forced to go "to points north of Kelly" by way of Wilmington and drive along the coast and take the ferry out to Ocracoke Island and visit Hatteras. Then take 12 on up to Manteo and Kill Devil Hills... but it's probably a little touristy right now...

I'm itiching for a road trip myself. Have fun. Be nice

sounds like tons of fun.
I second the OBX but make sure you make reservations for the Ferry and be there BEFORE your time. We thought as long as we were there by our time we were good. Nope we go bumped and barely made the last ferry off the island.
