How to show VCR tape on big screen - 06-26-2007, 08:32 PM

Will be getting some photography instructional VCR tapes (they MIGHT be dvd's but i think they are VCR tapes)

I need to be able to project onto a large screen for presentation to a group of people.

Anybody got ideas of what equipment i will need to do this? I do not have a clue.

This may be a real stupid question - but I gotta know. Please be gentle.

Most computer projectors should also take a video signal from a VCR as an input. You may need to get a separate set of speakers to hear the sound.

Kevin - thank you for the link you provided ..... wasn't wanting to buy anything, hoping there was a way to do it with cables, connector box etc. I will keep the info in case it is needed in the future.

Christian - thanks for the recommendation. I was hoping it would be something like that. I actually have a small TV with a vcr slot built into it..... so I will check to see what ins and outs it has, guessing we could even use the speakers built into the TV......... otherwise I will drag the ole vcr out ............

I appreciate the info and the taken to pass it on to me.

Susan

A very small vcr can be bought at walmart for around 15 to 20 bucks, and almost all computer projectors will work with that. You would just need some RCA cables (right left and video, usually red white and yellow), and maybe a set of computer speakers, and you should be in business.

There are a lot of ways to do it, but if I was going to show something to an audience that had a lot of detail, like photography instruction, I would see about renting a projector screen, or at the least get some white bulletine board paper from a school supply store, and taping that to a flat wall. If you also had a bookshelf stereo with small but loud speakers (like a bose wave radio or something) you should be able to get good sound from that without adding a lot of weight or set up and teardown time.

Just a few suggestions
