Now I am paranoid - 06-27-2007, 12:07 PM

Went for a walk at lunch at this park. I have been there several times. It has some walking trails that follow a man-made creek. I am walking along cross the bridge and look down and I see this fairly large cotton-mouth (some may know as a water moccasin). So I am about 12 feet from him and above him and for some reason I start throwing some rocks at him. He does not seem to move until I throw a handful of bark at him, then he strikes at the bark. Now the whole way back to my car, which is about 1/4 mile I keep looking over my shoulder. When I get to my car I start looking all-around and under the car.
When I was alot younger (late teens) this kind of stuff never bothered me, now I will probably have nightmares. Anybody experience feelings like this?

Every so often, I have a feeling that I am being pursued by a giant pack of Ramen noodles.

once at a friends house there were some mild woods between their property and another friends house...

we'd walk thru there everyday without a worry in the world... until i stepped about a foot away from a copperhead... it freaked me out. went back to their shed, got a shovel and nixed it...

ever since that day i would never walk thru there without minding where i stepped or what was around the floor etc.. not only that place but every other place i walked that was similar...

like a shirt i read once...

If you saw every snake you where close to you would have a heart attack... I was climbing around Heuko Tanks a few years back and in a great chug hold right at the top most part of the climb was a large rattle snake trying to keep cool. No reason to kill them they really keep the rodent population down.. They cant eat you so they are not going to attack you unless you mess with it or they are molting....

spiders freak me out. all those little eyes just looking for a spot to bite me at.

maybe you should not have thrown rocks at it, this is probablly why you were a little freaked out.

I can get very close to spiders and photo them and it wont bug me, but if one gets on me or I accidently do something to a web I pretty much lose it.

lol @ James!

for the record... i was about 10yrs old at the time and my friend had some kid sisters that would play outside in the general area of where the snake was... hehe

Now, i only kill them if Lisa wants me too... jk of course

btw, Lisa hates frogs...

The other day we got home and had a small young tree frog on the back door which is paned glass. I guess it was trying to feed on insects attracted to a nearby light. Lisa asked if i could knock it off the door before we went in. Me, being the one that has been trying to ease her fear of frogs said it wont bother her... but she insists that it could jump on her and that is what she is afraid of....

so i leave the frog on the door and proceed to unlock the door.. i open the door and walk in just fine, the frog is still planted to the window... I tell Lisa "its ok, youll be fine.... just walk thru the doorway and come in.." Lisa stood there for a minute and then said ok... she quickly made her way into the house and just then the little frog Jumped! Luckily it jumped outside and Lisa didnt see it so i slowly closed the door...

I sat there for a few seconds thinking... "ok do i tell her the frog did jump thus causing her to lose all confidence gained by her or do i just drop it and not even mention it... " hehee

Well I had to tell her.... then she freaked! then she was like "SEE I TOLD YOU SO!!!!"

hehee

I feel freaked out every time I get into the waters in Galveston. I know. I know. That's not the best beach in the world. We take our kids their just about every weekend. I can't get it out of my head that I will get stung by a jelly fish. Paranoia sucks.

I'm scared of teddy bears.

They have secret meetings at night when you are asleep.

They are the ones that steal that one sock that always goes missing.

BEWARE OF THE TEDDY BEARS!!!

Which hurts like heck by the way. I got swiped by one in Jamaica when I was a kid. OUCH!

Snakes in our pool skimmers. When I was younger we would get water moccasins in the skimmers (as well as the backyard) and my mom and I would together scoop them out and kill them. Now I always check our skimmers before I go swimming!

Jelly fish! Brings back fun memories of my childhood in Virginia. We used to have jellyfish fights on the beach! Crazy kids!

Poisonous snakes prefer Apple products :sarcasm:

I crack myself up sometimes.

If you don't throw rocks at them, they won't come eat your pets. Remember that one

I used to hunt water moccasins with a bb gun when I was a kid... where are the images and why on earth would you provoke one into striking without at least trying to capture an image of the strike?
