Does anyone have HD signal in Plano/Allen/McKinney? I have Directv and am looking into getting an off-air antenna for local HD stations. Now keep reading about the different zones and it looks like I have to have an outdoor one. Can anyone shed any light on this subject? I don't want to have to get an HD receiver from Direct.

We were getting out local HD channels via powered antenna inside the house for quite some time before we go the HD DVR from them. We are in the mid-cities though.

Honestly, though, you can get an HD receiver for free from DirecTv. Just keep calling until you get someone who's willing to work with you. We got our HD DVR for free.

I get the HD signals from the local channels with just an indoor HD antenna I got at Wally World. I am in Forney so I bet you can get them also.

I did have to put the antenna on top of the entertainment center to get Channel 8 to come in but the others worked pretty well without putting it that high.

I am thinking of going with a little larger antenna and putting it in the attic, but this requires running another coax and I have not been wanting to get in the attic right now.

I cant find the link, but I think someone posted a site that would show you a map of your home in relation to the local TV station HD antenna's so you know which way to point it (if you get a directional one) and how far away you are form them.

I tried finding it on google but I am drawing a blank on what the site was called.

Trythis link for info on antennas. You don't have to have DirecTV or anybody to get over the air HDTV as long as you have an HD tuner.

I'd like to find the right customer rep with DirecTVto talk to about a free HD DVR.
