Angry Stolen Purse...How do I get a new license - 07-06-2007, 09:48 AM

So, after a freaky long trip back to TX, I noticed my purse was gone. As far as I could tell, it disappeared in Alabama. To top it off, it was a Dooney (guy tag: really expensive purse). Ugh.

Main ?: Do I have to go into the DMV or can I get them to mail me another license? And how many tickets will I get without one in the mean time? Is that a ticketed offense?

I didnt think the state was really fast about these things. Last time they typed my name wrong and refused to fix it - I was Holy Mary (instead of Holly Marie) for a few months. That was kind of funny...

You will probably need to go to the DMV but I would call first. IF you get a ticket for no license (it is a ticketed offense), you can get it dropped. Once you go to the DMV, they will give you a receipt which you should be able to use in the meantime. I had this happen to me years ago so things might have changed since then. Now I keep copies of my cc's and dl in a lockbox. If you had the number to the left side of your picture on the license, you could go on line and order a new one.

Maybe you should get a water filter...or dig a well, before you do anything more!
You sure have had more than your share of troubles lately!

Trouble seems to follow me. I'm so irked I lost that purse. How did I not notice? Well, I suppose the answer has to do with too little sleep and two little kids. Ugh. Maybe I should dye my hair blonde and just make a day of it - new DMV photo! Wahoo!

I think I would follow the procedure in the link I posted for LOST LICENSE versus trying to just get it renewed. I would think that in this day and age of stolen identity that following the LOST procedure would give notice to the state of this issue along with possibly voiding the old license ID number located next to your picture and also voiding any bar code scanning of the license as a safeguard.

Holly...it stinks..only men with no children would think it's funny (of course Holy Mary does have a certain ring!!) I did the same thing...left it at a restaraunt. However I had four kids and a husband with me...does that give me a better excuse???? But it was a WalMart purse, so maybe I did want to get rid of it??? Anyway I noticed it 4 hours down the road on a 20 hour road trip....that was pleasant!!!! So the moral of the story is, if you have had your license stolen, the DMV will understand---or at least mine did. Go in and prove you are who you are (passport, SS card etc.) if you get someone nice, they can even look to see if some one has used your license and received a ticket. I'm thinking you need to sign something so if they do use your license you won't be responsible for it...good luck Holly...it's no fun replacing all that important stuff!!!! Keep your sense of humor
