I've been trying to find out about it myself, but can't even locate it on ATT site
this is all I have on it so far:
https://uverse1.att.com/lsloadLandingPageAction.do
they have been working in my area so I hope they are upgrading. If not, I'm stuck with Comcast

They are installing it this week. I am anxious to see how it works. I will let you know.

It is available about 2 blocks from me.. but not on in my particular neighborhood. Driving me nutz! Sick of cable prices for what I get and my homeowners "ass." won't let me put up a dish in visible site (which I am on a corner and don't want to place it in the backyard..)...so this seems like the only alternative I have (someday). No FIOS/Verizon presence here.

Let us know how you like it.

I have it and it's OK but not as great as I hoped it would be.
Sometimes the Internet seem slow, like a page wont load right away but other times it really fast.
They put a big ass wireless modem looking thing in the living room so all the computers in the house are on the wireless network.
The HD DVR is slow also, like when I push a button there's a slight delay.

From what I hear it's not nearly as good as Verizon FIOS, because it's not fiber all the way to the house. The internet speeds are comparable to cable, and you can only record/watch a single HD channel at a time (that would be a total deal-breaker for me).

you can go to the AT&T /cingular Experience store across form the old "Summit" which is the the new church of large proportions and play with all the goodies they have for the U-verse and home zone services and ask all the questions you want.

it might be well worth the trip to test drive the system before you make any decisions. you may NOT like the dvr they offer and im sure other DVR's (like TiVo) wont work on the u-verse system

I work for them and Im not switching from comcast. besides its not even available in my area yet, but they keep telling me I need to "drink the cool aid" and not pay the competition

Hmm.. I use a ReplayTV (with commercial skip - got one of the older ones).. and a home built SageTV PVR running multiple tuners on a PC... That has been one thing that has stopped me in the past.. Maybe I'll just stick with Time Warner for now. Dang it!!!#$@%^!#$%^!#%&^%&@#%^&@$

I know they offer DVR's (HD-DVRs also) with the Uverse from the web site. it says you can record 4 shows at a time.

but how it works is they send you 2 DVR's / cable boxes or what ever their set top box is. and they both have DVR functions in them and the get installed in separate rooms. and you can call up any recorded show from either TV. the 2 units are "networked" together some how.

Also I dont want to switch because if my HD-Tivo and SD-Tivo wont work with it, I aint switching. I know if oyu go with the home zone using the dish for the tv service your current DVR's like Tivo wont work. not sure about home built PVR's though

In the case of recording how many channels at once with AT&T U-verse....

You can only stream one "HD" channel at a time like Jeff said but up to 4 on SD channels.

Yes, it's a deal breaker, i don't think i would used it even if it's free... i need at least 4 hd channels at once and i only watch/record hd.

We tried to switch to U-Verse .. they spent the day out setting everything up but for one reason or another couldn't get a signal to the house, so left us with no phone, no cable, no internet and walked away with a "we'll call you in a few days and update you. I'm glad we didn't cancel Time Warner before U-Verse was installed and working or we woulda been **** outta luck. AT&T still ended up screwing up and dropping our number back into the available pool so we had to get a new number with TW at the time. And even though we never had working service with them AT&T seemed to think we owed them $12 for service. They can hug a nut.

SageTV rules! I have dual HDHomeRun QAM tuners that I use with Sage for the majority of timeshifting. The only thing I have to use the cable co's DVR box for is the HD channels that are encrypted (ESPN, Discovery HD, etc). Everything else we watch using SageTV, which is light years ahead of any standalone DVR I've ever seen.

OK, so it's finally available in my area and I'm gonna give them a try. They said there is no contract so if I don't like it I can cancel without fees....we'll see
I am only getting internet and TV and internet is SUPPOSED to be 6Mb down and 1MB up...........we'll see
