Didn't read all of the article.. But have you heard about the Southlake Cheerleaders? There are like 40 of them (I am sure I am exaggerating).. Pretty much everyone makes the team and the "in crowd" cheerleaders shun the "token ones". Sad sad.

Matter a fact, they did a fund raiser and then used the money throw themselves (the "in crowd" portion of the squad) at the country club. After a news article was posted about it.. guess who came to the rescue and paid the money back to the squad's account? Daddy of one of the "in crowd". Imagine that.

Disgusting. One of the main reasons my wife would not allow us to move to that area or parts of Plano, etc.. I LIKE THOSE AREAS...don't get me wrong. I actually grew up in Colleyville area (down the street from S. Lake). However, my wife wants nothing to do with the attitudes though...so I submit to my wife on this one. LOL

A good friend of mine works for the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD. Every year at tryouts time, she has to field all the calls that come into the superintendent's office from the irate moms whose daughters didn't make the cut. Spoiled little "prima donnas" with an entitlement attitude if you ask me.

All I can say is "GET OVER IT!" !! This mother is impressing on her daughter that being a cheerleader is the most important thing and she won't rest until her daughter becomes one... no matter what. If her daughter wants to cheer, do competitive. That is far more respectable than school cheer. (exception being a few schools in the area have a good squad)

Do they not have a freshman squad??

Should we expect anything less? We've become such a litigious society because we've learned we can obtain wealth through our own stupidity. Either that, or because it isn't appropriate for adults to stamp their feet and sulk like a toddler who didn't get a candy bar at the grocery store.

Morons...

I don't know who is worse, the family for suing or the dirt bag attorney for taking the case. What do you expect in a society that gives out 10th place ribbons and that has forgotten how to teach our kids to be gracious winners and losers?

Haha, ummm....i must say that she is sadly misinformed about that one. That may be true at this school, but with the competitiveness of football in HS, i highly doubt a coach will accept just anyone...they did not at both of my high schools i attended.

Aside from that comment, this is just sad...not much else to it than that. What ever happened to trying to be the best...now mommy and daddy will sue them to get what i want...

cheerleading.....serious bidness!

this is a perfect example of the way things have changed to the point where now people don't want their kids to understand that at some point you're either going to lose or you're not going to get what it is you want in life. Life isn't fair, learn to deal with it early and often, then get over it.

I can just see the new lawyer ad on TV. Have you or your family ever died from taking Vioxx? Have you ever worked in an asbestos mine, have you ever taken Viagra and, well you know, have you ever been cut from the cheerleading squad because you had no boobs? Well call 1-800-big-mony and let the firm of Lyon, Cheatum and Steal help you get MONEY!!! Or motto is, "Don't let the facts get in the way of a good lawsuit". There is a reason why God hates lawyers.

Ok...normally I would jump all over this like y'all but I heard the rest of the story this morning. It is a small town. 7 girls went out for the squad...so they only cut one girl. Apparently even the other girls, their parents and grandparents showed up at a meeting and said they wanted the school board to make an exception and let the girl on the squad. The school board said no. So ok....EXCEPT this is the JV squad and they did make the exception for the varsity squad. They usually have 6 and they made an exception this year to have 7... So in this case I think the parents have a case. Of course we'll never find out but...we at least know the rest of the story

And what if there were 8, or 10, or the entire class? Didn't they go in knowing there were only 6 spots? Why have grades or exams? Just pass everyone so they will all feel good about themselves. The last time I looked, life is tough and you need to get ready for it. How about, "You can try again next year" instead of, "we'll sue the bastards". Great life lesson here.

Man, I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I think she has a point. Why should any student that desires be excluded from any extra cirricular activity?

Nobody was ever 'cut' from Choir, or Band, or even any of the sports teams. Why should a cheerleader be cut?

Seems ridiculous to me, and if my daughter was singled out as the one person NOT allowed to participate, I'd be knocking on some doors too. Especially since they meantion that they broke their supposed rules for another student.

I think a lot of you read the title of this thread, and that was it. Start by reading the article.
