I would much rather wait until her year is over, and hear what she actually made. I'm not impressed with "I expect to make..." For that matter, I expect to make $1,000,000. Now, let's see if I do.

I made just over $20 on fotolia.com this past year. I only have about 25 photos on there though.

Anyone have any experience with Shutterpoint?

I've looked at putting some stuff on a stock site but the thought of people raping the photos I put a lot of love into taking with expensive gear bothers me a bit.

It would bother me too, all the way to the bank. Then I would be over it.

Shooting something that a ten thousand others have not, trying to find something anything to shoot! Not to mention PP, uploading, keywording among other things! Its a ton of work with very little return. Also it seems like a real rip off selling a decent image for less than a dollar. At leat this is my take on "pushing very hard" Am I close ?

I have a few (very few) images on istockphoto and have made about $1000 from them. Now that they've been bought by Getty they've pushed the cost up for larger images and the profit is better if you're image is exclusive with them. I do absolutely nothing to promote it, but I have a couple of images that just seem to be popular and people buy large versions of them. They have been going through images and expiring those that aren't popular or up to their increased standards.

Like was stated before if you have an image that is unique or in demand you can do fairly well, but to do $70k a year on istock would be extremely hard and rare. There are a lot of other sites out there but with the marketing and backing of Getty this one seems to be the best now. I see their ads in design and PS magazines all the time.

Yep - you are right on ...
Not worth it to many.
Not to me anyway.
But then are some on this forum and others who think it is worth the effort -
esp those who sell books classes software hardware etc.
Ton each his own ... and Good Luck !!

This is Exactly what the biz turned to with the explosion of semi pro photogs and the digital revolution.
