any opinions?

:)

Unless you have older children (13-14 and up, and not easily frightened), I would leave the kids at home. For the younger kids, it's really dark and scary.

No review for me, except that it was one hell of a movie, but they left to many chapters out from the book.

I enjoyed it, although I never really read the books if that matters.

I liked the dark tone...but then again I like dark movies. Definitely a departure from the the earlier 3 of the 5 films.

I saw it in digital projection...great picture!

my daughter is 10 years old and has seen every Harry Potter movie, and she loved this one just as much as the previous 4.

If given a choice, I would rather have seen it at home on DVD... However, I didn't dislike it. If it had not been so dark, I would have liked it. I don't like children's stories where someone dies. Knowing that, I didn't want to go, but my daughter dragged me to the opening show.
It missed a lot of what I thought was really important in the book - Snape's questionable character... etc. Anyway, except for the fact that the chair was uncomfortable... it was okay.

I asked my mother about the Darkness because the movie did seem to have a very dark overtone, and overall the movies seem to be getting darker and darker starting with the death of Cedric in the previous movie. She says the movie was much darker than the book felt. Could just be her opinion of it though.

I'm interested to see how the next 1 translates to screen with the most important thing to happen to Harry and the series in general, since the death of Harry's parents, happening in the 6th book

Unfortunately, if you have read the books, movies 4 and 5 are kind of like reading the Readers Digest condensed version. But on the other hand, for a condensed version, it is pretty well done.. The parts that are missing dont seem to have affected the major issues of the series.
I wonder though about people that classify this series as "Kids" books. There are a wide range of topics and subjects that are addressed and mentioned that are not in the typical 3rd and 4th grade reading books. And you can even here that adults read the books and enjoy them.
I just hope that they manage to keep the same cast through the last two books. I have heard rumor that the actor that does Draco is whining for more money to do the last 2.
