I'm waiting until I finish rereading the book. I've heard both good and bad things about it, but I'm looking forward to seeing it.

too many kids in the theater, I'll wait for the dvd. besides I feel like the series has gotten somewhat repetitive.

We saw it at Midnight showing, the "night" day it opened, I liked it a lot, there are some funny scenes, but it is a bit darker than the others, there are a couple of scenes I wanted to reach through the screen and rip a character's head off, which is good, if a movie can get me riled up like that. We really enjoyed it, I do think I will see it again, I feel like I missed a few things, but I would recommend it. It's amazing how quick those kids grow up. Especially Dudley..

Its funny to see how people react - like a sold out show will have a vacant seat next to the nut dressed up as Snape. lol! I heard we had a guy in a cape at our GO night, but I think he usually has a cape.

I saw it opening night at the IMAX. Had to buy my tickets two and a half weeks before it was released. It is definatly worth the extra $$ to go see it there. The big fight scene at the end of movie is in 3D. It was FREAKING AWESOME! Though the movie differs from the book greatly, it still a good movie.

took my wife and daughter to see it last Thursday. It did have a very dark overtone, which didn't bother me, but it was just drastically different than the previous movies.
We loved it, but there were things I didn't like.
I've never read the books, but my mother does and we talked about a lot of the things they left out. Can't wait til the rest come out.

Does anyone know if it is worth the money to see it at one of the theaters that offer DLP versus standard screen viewing?

I saw it yesterday and loved it. I read the user review on Yahoo and the die-hard book readers are all up in arms over how much the movie deviates from the books. I'll probably never read any of the books until after all of the movies are finished. I'm glad to see the main characters at least have signed on to finish out the series, but yeah, Dudley shot up a little too much in this one. I may have to go see it at i-max later to catch that 3-d battle that Shaggysnack is talking about.

I'm a die hard book reader and still loved the movie, but I'm also realistic and know that the movie would be 5 hours long or more if they tried to follow the book exactly.

I am a whoosh.... I loved the earlier books and movies. As they get darker and darker, I like them less and less.
If given a choice, I would rather have seen it at home on DVD... However, I didn't dislike it. If it had not been so dark, I would have liked it. I don't like children's stories where someone dies. Knowing that, I didn't want to go, but my daughter dragged me to the opening show.
It missed a lot of what I thought was really important in the book - Snape's questionable character... etc. Anyway, except for the fact that the chair was uncomfortable... it was okay.

Some of the reviews suggested that Harry Potter (especially the newest movie) is no longer a "family" show ...
any opinions?
:)
