Germans to destroy Checkpoint Charlie Memorial on July 4th

According to these the Socialist Goverment of Berlin is going to tear down the Memorial on the 4th of July. Anyone else see the symbolism in this?

1985 I drove Checkpoints Alpha-Bravo and then crossed into East Berlin from Checkpoint CHarlie.

I saw the wall, I hated the F**king wall the first time I saw it. I cried when the wall came down. I served in Germany 1983-1986 with the 3rd Armored Division 2/36th Infantry.

This is sad if true.
