Smile The Simpsons Movie - 07-27-2007, 08:36 PM

So, I had the pleasure of accompanying mike to this movie today. There were 2 die-hard Simpson fans in the theatre...Mike and some girl about 10 rows behind us who was violently laughing the whole time. The rest of the audience seemed to be waiting for it to get funny. I think Spider Pig was the best part. Since that was in the commercial, I dont think I gave too much away, in case you wanted to see it. And we had a dead audience...they didnt giggle much. Was wondering if other theatres reacted the same way or if its just Abilene's conservatism oozing out? oooozzzze.

I didn't think it was very good at all, expected more from them, yeah there were a few funny moments but nothing really as good as say one TV episode 10 years ago produced. I say put a stake in it.
BTW there already is a bootleg of the movie on the internet.

Being a die hard Simpsons fan, I thought it was GREAT! I laughed all the way through it and so did the audience I saw it with. I did see it at 12:01 last night, so everybody there had to be big fans to watch it at midnite on a Thurday night. The entire crowd applauded at the end of the movie.

After saying all that, I was a little disappointed it the plot. It was kind of stale and did expect a little more from it. There were some great sight gags and the animation was much better than the tv cartoon but the characters were not as in depth that I would expect. So, I guess I will only 2 or 3 more times.

I just saw it and I really enjoyed it. It's not something I think too hard about (depth of characters, plot, etc). I just laughed.

I think Homer said it best in his commentary on the Itchy and Scratchy movie. I can't believe we spent our money on the same thing we watch at home. It was basically a long Simpson's episode (and not as good as some), and I enjoyed it, but about as much as I enjoy the TV show.

I wish someone would make a feature length, live action Itchy and Scratchy though.
