Can anyone elxplain? - 07-27-2007, 11:17 PM

I had 2gb of Ram installed on my computer last Sunday. Got home and PSE wouldn't open after leaving it for a week it still won't open I have installed uninstalled etc.. with no luck.
I just updated dhs computer to read raws with PSE and now the freaking organizer wont open so I can't down load through PS
Any suggestions cause after the wedding tomorrow I may wind up in Jail, they already know I am coming and I have already warned dh to expect a call lol.
This just really pisses me off.
Any clues as to what it might be?
TIA

Hi Breezy,

Don't know what the problem is but since this started to happen after the memory was installed my guess is that the memory modules are either bad, or not compatible with the motherboard, or something or someone messed something really up in the bios settings.

I'd take it back to the place that did this and do something!<g> I'm not sure if I'd ask for a refund and take it some other place or ask them to fix it. If they messed it up this bad in the first place I'd be wondering if they know what they are doing, but it might be some simple oversight or mistake. Not much help...

Best regards,

Thanks Arnor
We got it at Best Buy as there are only about 5 places to get anything like computers here and that includes CC, Sears, CompUSA etc... No real stores lol. I spoke with a store supervisor he was a complete idiot. So I probably won't be on tomorrow cause I will more than likely wind up in jail seriously lol.
I have had so many problems and the only reason we went back to BB is cause they junked my other computer and I got this one for the price of a new warranty so at the rate I am going I will have another one really soon and I just got this one in March.
Thanks again for the info I will let them know that they better fix it or give me another.
Trying to burn the DVD for the other photographer.

This is alot like our dryer, we are on our 2n dryer since moving here in May 05, first was a maytag neptune we had the originals but the buyers wanted them when we sold the house in VA so we bought the newer version here. nothing but trouble. Finally got maytag to give our money back on the washer and then convinced lowes to buy the dryer back. Now we have wirlpool duest and nothing but problems with the dryer on it. Since we got back from alaska in late may we have had nothing but trouble with it. For the past month and a half it may or maynot work and we are on our 4th mother board and yet again today it screwed up again.
I am starting to think taht we are seriously screwed like someone put a curse on us or something lol

This does sound like a bad memory issue, and someone else working on the PC should not void the PC manufacture warranty but i'm not sure about BestBuy warranty. Bottom line, Best buy and geek squad are for the most part idiots, i have worked behind them on many computers and wanted to go kill them myself for the client, just because they are so stupid it would raise the accumulative IQ value of the state. Stick to local shops if at all possible, support the little guy, chances are they will know a lot more than your bestbuy n00b.

Photography does not make me money, but its my escape from life and that is priceless.

I think "idiots" is a little harsh... just because someone that is being touted (and sold) as a computer expert but doesn't have a clue for how to open a case much less do simple diagnostics on a computer doesn't mean they are an idiot... moron is more applicable

I don't know if the warranty would be voided or not. I built my own PC so tech support is me (not necessarily a plus )

If it voids a warranty that they can't service, what do you lose? You'd pay out of pocket and get your PC running.

If you know which memory they added (and it means they added to, not replaced all) I'd remove the new memory sticks and try to boot it and load your programs. You can also see what memory is compatible with your box and what was put in it.

Are other programs not working?

Thank guys just got back in and no they took out the old which was a 512 and replaced it with 2 1gbs.
I threw a fit and am not in jail yet lol.
I paid 379 for the extended warranty just cause we ALWAYS have problems with every laptop that we buy. This one is my fourth in 5 years. But it should have only been 3.
I have the packets from the new memory and the old stick.
As for other programs working it looks like they are. I have only opened Works and photogallery though. They are "hoping" it will be ready tomorrow.
Not holding my breath.
Thanks again

Ordered a Dell 1520 laptop last week, Monday 23 and it was delivered here in killeen today by DHL. Four to five day turnaround and this unit has all the bells and whistles. I always thought Saturday deliveries were for the big cities.
