Blacklight - 07-31-2007, 12:47 PM

I was just asked to shoot a Halloween party, but here is the trick the only light will be blacklight.

Has anyone every tried to shoot under these conditions? if so what do you do to have successful pics?

Used to shoot film under Blacklight back in the '60's (Sex, Drugs and Rock and Roll times). You may want to use a UV filter depending on how sensitive your sensor is to it.

Any way you can do some test shots before show time?

Thanks John, I hope I will be able to try this before the party. I have some time, so I just need to find a place that uses blacklight...lol

If anyone knows of somewhere that uses this kind of lighting, please let me know

The Spirit Halloween stores usually have a small blacklight area/room. Don't know if they'll let you shoot in there, but it's the only place I can think of.

Or, you can buy a cheap blacklight at Walmart for under $20 and practice at home.

Come on Norm. We all know you have a room devoted to black light and strobe lights. Just go in there and do some self portraits... you may have to take down the felt poster with neon colors of Bob Marley... The incense isn't good on the sensor either, BTW so change your lens before you go in!!
