For clients I go through adorama. I am very pleased with them

Mike, I have to agree. Printing your own is something that I gave up on years ago once I calculated the actual costs (ink, paper, time and effort, let alone the initial printer costs, re-do costs (more ink, paper, time, effort...).

If I don't like what the lab prints, it costs me nothing, zip, nada, zilch....and they will reprint immediately and continuously until i am satisfied.

My wife is a scrapbooker and may get hundreds of prints at 4x6 at a time and she uses winkflash at 6 cents each. They look as good as anyone elses. For enlagments to frame and hang on the wall, I always use a custom printer if larger than 8x10 which I can do myself on my dyesub.

My comment was off topic, for which I apologize. The OP asked who to use as an online printer, I still suggest MPix or BayStatePhoto.

Mike.

Printing yourself is a pure quality control issue. Cost effective or not.

For proofing, I usually let MPIX run a batch of them or so...but if I'm printing a handful of 8x10s or 11x14s, something I can do myself for a client...I know exactly how they are going to look.

Plus...if you are taking the time to print them yourself, you can pass that cost on to your customer to some extent.

JPalmer - That makes sense and I see your point. I guess cost-effectiveness was all I was thinking about. :)

wow...thanks guys for all the input.

seems like mpix is getting quite a few votes.
and winkflash too (moreso for the cost).

i might just end up going w/winkflash if they have 6cent prints with flat 99cent shipping.
i'm going to print a bunch of photos after family vacation...and sounds like they get the job done well enough.

i'll use mpix (or adorama) if quality becomes an issue.

thanks again!

Pretty sure you have made up your mind, but here is another vote for MPIX.
