**I FOUND THE SERIAL: 899376**

Hey guys,

My car was stolen monday in North Houston, and my Nikkor 80-200 2.8 AF-D lens was in it...

i am trying to locate all the papers so that i can get yall the serial number as well, but no luck yet. the only defining features i can think of right now are a 'Something' Fox Brand UV filter on it.

Please let me know if you guys run into one for sale anywhere that may seem fishy or anything. It really sucks to have that lens missing...

Thanks a lot.

Theo

these are the only photos i have of it right now:

it was stolen near I-45 and the beltway. to be exact, at aldine-bender and imperial valley.

stole it out of a small, busy strip center parking lot. i was in getting lunch at a subway for 20 minutes, and they took it.

it was recovered wednesday in decent shape, minus wheels, stereo and other random things. and, of course, the lens. so i've been calling pawn shops in the area to see if anyones tried to sell one, cause i imagine car thieves don't really know what to do with a camera lens.

i'll try to find that serial asap.

thanks yall.

I hope you can find the serial number, get that on file in the system, that will help on the pawn shop checks. I don't live to far from that location, drove by it this morning on the way home. Not change the subject, nice work on the website, I like the drop down list on the nav bar.

Huh...I just bought one of these from some dude on the street corner for $50. He was selling them out of his trench coat in an alley.

if someone comes to me trying to sell that lense what should I do? buy it in $50 or let him go, or call cop.

I'd give them the $50 and call it a cheap recovery. The chances of holding someone until a cop gets there, or them still having the lens until you can find them again are slim at best. Will your car or home owners policy cover it?

we'll see, but i am pretty sure that one of the two will cover it, from what i have been told.

a police report has been made, so if he tries to pawn it, it will come up as stolen which will in turn give me his name to give to police. so im crossing my fingers for that!

i appreciate all yalls concern about the issue!

thanks a lot
