Hmmm, I have stopped using walmart..well, not totally STOP...but not as frequent as before. When I was still using my Pentax K 1000 35mm camera, I went to Walmart all thet ime coz it was cheap...that was like almost 8,9 yrs ago.
I recently printed some 8x10 there, and they turned out fine. for the price of $2.00++, i would say i like how those 8x10 turned out....
I hope that answered your qns....

depending on what you want, and what you tell them you want, they often do fine.
If you just send it blind and assume they will preform miracles, well, you might be disappointed. 'course, that goes for just about anyplace.

I've sent them only a few files and that was to compare my printer to what I could get from them. They were OK, but I prefer to print my own. I don't print 20 a week and FWIW my wife does work there. (Not in the camera area though.)

I don't like to use WalMart because around here they don't seem to have a clue. Case in point.... A couple years ago I took a CD in to have some 8x10s made. Went back after the time it said on the claim check and handed the claim check to the clerk. It plainly stated on it that there were 8x10s. Where do you think he starts looking? Yep... in the 4x6 envelopes. Another time I ordered several different sizes and when I went back to pick them up only half the order was there. They didn't see the orders for other sizes.

The Wal-Mart's here are acceptable, but not great. Colors are different every time. The Sams Club here is wonderful and I get the same print quality as I do from Mpix. If they used a different paper besides the Fuji paper I would use them more often.

The last time we used Wallyworld for prints we were so dissapointed. We needed several 8x10 prints for cut-outs and they were so bad we did not use them. Incidently, we now print all our own photos.

I never go into a Wal-mart unless I am in BF egypt and it is the only store around. I would give my reasons but they might be construed as political or controversial

Considering I work at a Sam's Club photo, I never use Wal-Mart's photo department. And yes, we do get in a habit of just looking at the name, not what size prints, and just start checking the 4x6 bin. As for quality, to answer your question, I can personally say that I have always been pleased with the photos we print in our store. As for Wal-Mart...... I've never really used them.

ive never printed at wal-mart, but I shop there often. Ive heard, and believe that wal-mart single handedly kept inflation in check in america.
now, the subprime market meltdown is doing that for us lol

Never...
I have heard MORE THAN A FEW stories of people who went to get prints done at various Walmarts, and had a big issue. Appearently, if the pictures are too "good", Walmart claims they have to have been stolen from a professional photographer, and that there is no way the person bringing in the memory card/film could have been the photog. They then "confiscate" the card/film, and refuse to return it, or the prints to the photog. One guy who had this happen actually had to call the police to get his card back, and that was AFTER offering to show them that the exif data on the pics matched his camera that he was holding right in front of them...
Personally, I would have flipped out, which is one reason I won't go there. No reason to chance it... | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
