Perseid Meteor Shower this weekend - 08-10-2007, 11:52 AM

I don't know too much about it (but you can google it and bunches of info comes up) but they are saying that Sunday night (12th) into Monday dawn (13th) is the best time to view this. And it's also a new moon... so it should be nice and dark to view and/or try some long exposure shots. I think I read somewhere that there are usually 2-3+ streaks a minute during this time.

I've never done any kind of long exposures.. but this might be fun to drive out into the dark outskirts of town to try...

I am confused...

I did a search and the foxnews report said this year and quoted space.com, but two links down in the search, space.com, had almost an identical article from 2004????

Still, if it is at this time of year, it should be spectacular, as I remember being on a lake one night in 2000, and the show was incredible.

Try Sky and Telescope. The newsies aren't going to be all that reliable.

Thank you for this link -- I just didn't want to stay up all night till dawn, and end up being disappointed based on conflicting info.
