Well tonight is the night if you want to add "star tracks" and "meteor trails" to your porfolio.
I think I will attempt to gain this skill and see how well long exposure, night shots come out. Saw some nice ones last night and tonight is supposed to be the best starting at about 9pm and going throughout the night. In the northeastern sky is said to be the best spot to watch with up to 90 or more meteors per hour (mph) <wink>. This is the Perseid meteor shower, so after this month you can try to catch it again next Summer. Move away from the city lights if possible but they can still be visible in the city and might offer a spectacular skyline to add to the image. I believe 30 sec. exposures or longer are supposed to work so it may require some timing and anticipation for success.
Of course one can always just PhotoShop a meteor into a night snapshot when it's convienient... (Just joking)
Anyway, this seemed like a photo-op worth mentioning since it will be a skill that many camera buffs may not have tried yet. If I have success, I'll post the results if not, there's always next time. Good luck.
