I was wondering if anyone has bought something off of craigs list and how the transaction went. I have an epson 2200 printer up there now and a person that is interested is being very adamant about including all paper and inks that I have. The listing said nothing about any extra inks or paper.
I was just wondering what other peoples experiences have been. This guy sounds a little weird to me.

First I don't have any dealings with Craigslist, but my opinion is, if it isn't mentioned, then your not required to include it. I can understand that you wouldn't send any extra papers with it, but why would you hold on to any extra inks? Can you return them for your money back? Just wondering. I'm also of the opinion, if you get a bad feeling from this person, tell them no deal!

My wife has had nothing but good dealings on there. Sounds like this guy is trying to get something extra for nothing. Remake an offer on it, or just tell him u only got whats listed, or wait till someone else bites on it. BTW did you list it here?
Good luck!

Craig,
The reason that inks were not listed is because there aren't any. I had to chunk them because they expired and no one wanted them. I've had this printer for about a year and a half. It has been sitting idle for about half that time. I did just do a head cleaning and test printed and it passed with flying colors.
Huck,
I wanted to list in on here but I haven't hit the magic 25 post mark. I didn't want to have to ship it anywhere because it is so big. I was hoping to get a bite locally and I priced it for a quick sale.

Yeah I hear ya on the shipping. Well it doesnt take long for ya to get to 25. An easy way to do this is to say hi to all the new folks LOL. Cheat the system but the FOR SALE board is a good way to go and you can change shipping too.

I've sold a lot of stuff on Craig's list. You will get the occassional yahoo that thinks they can tell you what to do with your property. It's simple enough to tell them thanks, but no thanks and relist the item on Craig's list. You will eventually get a buyer and most of the people who do inquire won't be such a tool.
What does this idiot think, that you won't have need for paper for whatever printer you still have and use? Just tell the bozo, that all they get is what is listed at the listed price. If they don't like it tell them that they are more than welcome to take their business elsewhere.

He sounded like he is traveling around buying things off of the list. I told him that if he was not from around her I would need cash and not a check. That is the last thing I want is a bounced check from a traveling person. He was pretty quick to respond to previous emails. However I have not heard back from him since the last email. Hum
Thanks,

My wife was selling our kitchen table. We got an offer from a guy out of town. Said he would send a cashiers check and his "assistant" would be by to pick it up once the check cleared.
Sounds strange that you would buy something without seeing it.

This is a common scam on Craig' List. They offer to send a cashiers check, get your stuf, the check bounces and you are out your stuff, the money and the bounced check fee.
Do a little research on Craig's list and they have detailed info and examples of the scam.

I've bought and sold a few items from Craigslist. As far as I can recall they've all been cash transactions. Everyone's been pretty friendly and aboveboard so far. True, though, you need to watch for scammers or crooks just like eBay or anything else. Wasn't too long ago a guy drove to Ft. Worth from Waco to buy a car, and got killed for the cash - so use your head and stay safe.

I guess it is like everything trust your gut and use some common sense. Thanks for the heads up and the advice.

You can buy and sell online and do very well, but it takes some common sense, a little science, and a suspicious mind. There's just a lot of thieves out there working Ebay and Craigslist.
Craigslist is usually a little safer, because most sales happen locally. Require cash. No checks, no money orders, no cashiers checks, and do a face to face transaction in a public place, and you should be safe. Go with Paypal on the to-be-shipped transactions, and read up on the techniques of scammers before you participate in the marketplace.
That being said, this guy just sounds like a haggler - he's trying to get the best deal he can, nothing wrong with that. You have the right to say yes or no, so make the deal or break it - depending on what it takes for you to do good on the transaction.
Haggling is part of the fun.

I want to tag him as a scammer. Like I said above I never received a response from an email requesting for a place to meet and cash only. I mainly shop on the net and have only been burned a couple of times(thanks ebay and paypal) Learned a new lesson each time.
Thanks for the reply,

CL is ok...it is what it is. There will be both good and bad dealings with the people you come across from those ads.
Personally I would let this guy know the only thing(s) available is what is/are listed in the ad, nothing more or less and demanding something other than what is listed will only serve to cause you the seller to seek offers other than his and not sell to him. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
