The Spouse-Unit just got me a Motorola V-180 phone for the fathers day thing, and I am getting used to it. I've never had a flip phone before, and its....different from my old Nokia. I almost got the Samsung, but got talked into the Motorola.
Opinions on cell phones, preferences, dislikes?

my first phone was a flip phone but just a couple months ago i bought a nokia 6230 which I really like. Even the weight of this phone seems just right.
Bluetooth is fun to have, I use a program to automatically turn my screen saver on and pause itunes when i leave and when I come back it automatically turns screensaver off, plays itunes, and opens up texasphotoforum.com (not even kidding)

Am I the only one who thinks cell phones are getting too small? I mean sure pocketable is great, but these things are getting so tiny and I think signal strength and sound quality suffer because of it. Not to mention the build quality, those old Nokias were built like a tank whereas my Sony Ericcson is one cheap POS.

the V180 has audio quality problems, basically ALL Motorola Digital, GSM phones have audio quality problems, but the V180 is the worst. When I was picking out a phone for my wife the sales person steered me AWAY from the V180. Not to sell me a more expensive phone because I work for Cingular and I still have to go to the store just like you do to get my phone and this was a ZERO commission sale for the sales person.
Nokia and Samsung are about the best right now.
Motorola, Siemens, Sony Ericsson and LG are not really up to par with Nokia and Samsung.
Motorola analog phones were the top dog in cell phones back in the day until the digital phones came out. Motorolla just cant get it working right with digital/gsm

I've got a Samsung flip phone. Before I got it, I was vehemently opposed to the flippy thing, but now I don't remember why...and I want a flip phone when this one wears ago. :) Mine's got a camera (of course) but it's crappy. Is it bad that I want a new phone just so that it has a better camera??

Wow! What kind, so far mine seems to be ok. I even set my ringtone to Star Wars Imperial March :)
I agree that phones are getting too small. Both the Spouse-Unit and I like a more "hefty" phone. Quote: |

Judy and I just picked up a couple of Motorola V330 photo phones. We have T-Mobile service. The 330 is a very sweet phone and it has exceptional audio quality, a very bright display and plenty of ring volume, very long battery standby time, among numerous other features. Our daughter also has another carrier's version of this phone and she is very pleased with it.

I work in bars and concert halls, so my choice was an LG (Qualcomm) that has an insanely loud ringer--it's a side benefit of the external speaker that's part of it's speakerphone feature. I love it.
My GF's Samsung camera phone has the weakest ring ever.
In her purse it's inaudible.
Don't think she has EVER managed to answer one of my calls on the first try. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
