Need an art quote... Jezebel? Anybody? - 08-22-2007, 06:41 PM

I am not looking to do this until the late fall probably. I need an artist to recreate/draw/photoshop a child from a bad scan. My sister lost a child a few years ago and we are planning on doing a family picture sometime this year. I am going to leave a space for him and want to edit him in later. The big problem is, her house burned earlier this year and she lost most of his photos. The ones she does have are bad scans. I would like someone to be able to take my photo, draw him in at good (printable) quality as an angel. Not too fantasy, no wings or anything, just some glow and a halo. I would like it if they could make the lighting look somewhat similar to the picture I take. As if he was there, but as an angel. Also it would be great if they could make him look about as tall as he would be now. I know that will be pricey and I'm definitely willing to pay a premium for good work. If anyone is confident they could do this kind of job, please PM a quote to me. I want the digital back when it's done to get a big print made for her from Miller's. I want to do this as a Christmas present for her.

PS - If Mike reads this, please don't tell her. It's going to be a surprise.

Alternatively, I could take a picture with lots of sky and have his face in the sky. I am totally open to ideas.

Michelle,

Call one of the universities that teach drawing and painting and ask them if you can comission one of the art students. That would be by best suggestion.

That is a good idea and I'll do that if I can't find someone here. I would rather use someone who is self-employed like me, pay-it-forward I guess.

"Just because no one understands you, doesn't mean you're an artist."

Oh... you meant a quote as in a price for a job ... duh, I feel foolish.

(was this a serious thread, too? sorry to ruin the mood)

This sounds like a sweet idea for somebody, but I don't think it's the sort of thing that I'd be very good at. Good luck finding someone perfect for the job though :D
