Text Message Rant

I am temporarily interrupting your general forum viewing for this brief rant. I just received my wireless bill. My 15 year-old son had 7,500 text messages total (includes sent & received). That is a rough average of 250 per day!! What ever happened to something normal like actually talking on the phone?? At least I have a wireless plan that includes unlimited text messages, but 7,500 messages!!

I now return you to your normal forum viewing.

I have my son convinced that I will know if he does. Then it's lose either the phone or the vehicle for a period. :-)

You will, from the bill right?? Man, if my kids do that while their driving I'll cut their license in half.

Exactly. At least during his drive to and from school, but it doesn't start til next year, thank goodness.

I never thought I'd be a "text messager" either.

As it turns out, it's quite handy. I'm on the phone a lot too, but for quick short conversations, it's easier to send a text back and forth a couple of times. Like an email, I can also reply somewhat at my leisure rather than immediately, sometimes half-cocked.

And your son is a rank amateur...When I put my girlfriend on my plan, the first month she had over 1500 OUTgoing alone... :shocked:

its what kids do these days, email is so slow....there is a complete short hand language they use for phone txt msg and while on the PC its a lot more then just LOL.

my daughter can txt like crazy, while it takes me 3 minutes to reply "Hello" to her
