Stopping Adobe Photo Downloader from loading - 08-31-2007, 07:34 PM

Adobe Photo Downloader loads in the background every time I boot up. I want to stop this but cannot locate where to do so (stupid Windows). It's associated with Lightroom. Help?

There should either be a shortcut in the Startup folder (be sure to check current user and "all users"), or else an entry under Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run in the Registry (be sure to check HKEY_CURRENT_USER and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE).

ratz.
Ok we are talking XP right?
If win 98 should be able to go to system tools/ and find it there.
If Vista I don't know. But you are correct, Windows can frustrate.
sorry about that.
ps
Someone correct me here but there should be a switch for everything.
Finding it, well there is the challenge.

If all else fails, download free startup cop and turn it off there. You may have to pay $7.97 for an upgrade evrsion, but it is still a good utility.

Click 'Start' | 'Run' and type in regedit

Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WINDOWS\Curr entVersion\run and remove the key called 'Adobe Photo Downloader.' You can also highlight it, then click File | Export and save it before you delete it, just in case.
