Hang on to any of the new Texas Quarters. If you have them, they may be worth much more than 25 cents. The US Mint announced today that it is recalling all of the Texas quarters that are part of its program featuring quarters from each state.

This action is being taken after numerous reports that the new quarters will not work in parking meters, toll booths, vending machines, pay phones or any other coin operated devices.

The problem lies in the unique design of the Texas quarter, which was designed by a team of Texas A &M specialists. Apparently the duct tape holding the two dimes and the nickel together keeps jamming up the machines.

and all this time i thought it was because my Texas quarters keep showing 26 cents instead of 25 and they were all signed by "Big Daddy Bush"....

As a side note, the graphic artist at my day job (Daniel Miller) is the one that designed the Texas quarter... He got honored by the governor and whatnot... However, the mint itself takes the winning design and has their GA's rework it for the final supposedly.

He was pretty happy nonetheless..
