Where do I buy Bose Headphones in Plano - 09-05-2007, 02:53 AM

I´ll be going to Dallas in a couple of days (from Sweden) and apart from the Camera gear I´m planning to buy I´m looking to find a good deal on the Bose Quietcomfort 2 noice canceling head phones.
Du you know of any place selling those at a good price or possibly refurbished ones in the Plano area?

Sharper Image store in one of the malls (I think they all have one, but check on their web site) Shops at Willow Bend, Dallas Galleria, Frisco Stonebriar. As far as price goes, Bose like Apple, doesn't allow discounts. I don't know of any refurbished outlets.

I'm not sure if it's still there, but Stonebriar up in Frisco used to actually have a Bose store if I remember correctly.

edit: www.stonebriarmall.com - shows it's still on the map.

Don't mean to burst your bubble, but Bose is generally understood to be sub-par in quality. They live on marketing hype. I don't know much about their headphone division, but you may be better off with some Shure or Sennheiser headphones.

I generally trust CNet's reviews. To their credit, Bose made it into the top 30. I'm picky though.

The unique feature of the Bose headphones is their external noise canceling technology. While I agree that their general Hi-Fi systems are over priced for the performance, the headphones perform quite well (as your other research discovered). I have a set of the original version that served me well for many years and dozens of long flights. They cannot hold a candle to my Sennheizer HD600 with Zu Mobius silver cables, but I don't do critical listening on an airplane or other noisy environment. I have a feeling that's what our member from Europe is looking for...

Fair enough. CNet did review them very highly, and I don't know of any other over-the-ear phones that have active noise cancelling that rivals the Bose phones, so there you go.

Yes, they are mainly intended for use during flights and possibly train trips so you are correct when you say the main purspose is not critical listening

Fry's Electronics has the Bose, JBL, Shure and Sennheiser (all comparable quality and all $99US).

I've listened to all of them on the same tunes with the same settings from the same iPod.

I bought the Bose. Their earphones, unlike their speaker systems (which are strong on highs and lows and weak in the middle) have rich full-range tonal quality.
