Anyone heard from Daniel Bates?

Today was a day to reflect and think about the fine young men in the military. This made me think about the forum's own fine young soldier, Daniel Bates. Has anyone heard anything about him lately? Just wondering if he was doing o.k.

He's likely in basic training. Pretty intense, and not internet forum friendly.
I bet he'll be on here ASAP.

I'm sure he'll let us know how he's doing soon, but I'm wondering why his post count changed. He left at a nice, even number. Now it's minus two. Maybe a thread got deleted.

I saw a post by him recently, and he changed his profile so that it read "Real First Name: Private." Must be he got to use a computer somewhere.

Dad will be flying out to see him graduate. Then he goes off to AIT and play with cameras! Rough life!

Yeah, I'm still alive...

...though when I wake up for a 0100-0200 hours fire guard shift, with a 3-mile run scheduled for the next morning around 0430 and 100+ degree, 80% humidity weather for the rest of the day, I don't feel very alive. Thankfully that's all over... 0 days and a wakeup left!
