Shoot a surfer - 09-14-2007, 03:08 PM

Some years ago, there were several crusty old anglers fishing off of the t-head at the Flagship hotel, or it's predecessor, the Pleasure Pier. A surfer had paddled out from the beach and was directly in line with where the fishermen were casting. They yelled at the guy and told him he needed to move over one way or the other. The surfer flipped them off, so one guy put a 2 oz weight on his line, lobbed it out, and nailed the surfer. Once he got back on his board, he steered way clear of the pier for the rest of the day. The old shark fishers would pay surfers to paddle their bait way out.

I have done this before and it works out great, if you get to one of the heavy surf areas just pay attention to where the sun is and will go.

oh, and stay away from the very end of the jetty, you will get wet
